UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, THE BAINEY GROUP, AND TEKTON ENGINEERS

Ben, a student at St. Thomas, reached out to The Bainey Group to assist/consult on his Senior Competition Project.  This project is an annual competition hosted by NAIOP, where multiple Universities throughout the Midwest put together teams of their highest achievers in the fields of Real Estate, Finance, and Entrepreneurship to compete in a Property Development Competition.

The teams were given two ‘ACTUAL’ properties with existing structures (properties are located at 1100 & 1200 Washington Ave, South, Minneapolis), and they were to compose a Complete ‘REAL WORLD’ Development Plan for the properties.  The only prerequisite was the set value of the property, but the rest was solely left to the team.  They could completely redevelop both properties, reposition them, or a combination of the two.

When the St. Thomas team reached out, I thought it was a great opportunity for Bainey to show our support and collaborate with an amazing team of young professionals in the NAIOP UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE 2023. After meeting with the team and touring the properties, it was obvious that we needed the assistance of an Engineering group that could provide REVIT MODELING for the project.  I reached out to Jeremy Baer and Tekton Engineers to see if they would be interested in supporting the St. Thomas team within this competition and their response was an enthusiastic “YES”.

Well, the project is complete and submitted for the competition.  The competition results will be presented at a NAIOP event banquet on April 20, 2023.

Special Thank You to Team Bainey for the privilege of being able to support these young professionals with their project and a Thank You to Jill and Jeremy from TEKTON Engineers for their awesome support to Ben and the St. Thomas team as well as for the great relationship and successful projects we have built together over the years.  Looking forward to many more to come.
