The Bainey Group recently sponsored a Green Advantage Seminar for 40 people comprised of building owners, employees, architects and subcontractors. Seven Bainey Group employees are now Green Advantage® Certified Practitioners. Using The Bainey Group and our Green Advantage® Certified Practitioners can contribute to receiving an additional innovation and design process point under the LEED Certification.

• 65.2% of total U.S. electricity consumption is generated by the construction, habitation, and demolition of buildings.

• 36% of total U.S. primary energy use is generated by the construction, habitation, and demolition of buildings.
• 30% of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions are generated by the construction, habitation, and demolition of buildings.
• One sixth of the world’s CO2 emissions come from making concrete.

• Green Buildings are between 30 and 70% more efficient than standard buildings, with a 3 to 7 year payback on initial investment.

• Studies show that buildings utilizing natural light, (daylight) have better student performance, less employee absenteeism and retail sales can improve up to 40%.
• T8 light fixtures produce more heat per foot candle than the sun.
• Compact fluorescent light fixtures are four times more efficient than incandescent light fixtures.
• Waterless urinals will reduce water consumption in a typical office building by 14% and save up to 40,000 gallons of water per year, per urinal.
• Rapidly Renewable Materials – these materials can be grown and harvested in less than 10 years for use in or as building products. Some of these products are bamboo, cork, cotton batt insulation, sunflower seed board, poplar OSB board, wool carpet, wheat grass cabinetry, and most birch products.
